NDF and Metalcorp planting the seeds to success
In 2013 Narromine’s NDF Disc Planters won the Tractor Machinery Association Machine of the Year award for best Australian designed and built machine. Five years on they remain one of Narromine’s best exports since Australian fast bowler Glenn McGrath.
Founded by Dale Foster in 2001, NDF Disc Planters manufacture Australian made disc planters, aiming for improved seed placement and minimal moisture loss – giving crops the best possible start.
Using Australian made Orrcon Steel tube and BlueScope plate, which is supplied by Metalcorp Dubbo, NDF employ 25 workers including several apprentices.
Founder Dale Foster believes there are many advantages for buying Australian made. He believes the close proximity of the Metalcorp Dubbo branch provides a market advantage to the business.
NDF Disc Planters Founder Dale Foster said, “The team at Metalcorp Dubbo has always been very accommodating to our needs. We keep our stock in our own factory on consignment. If we ever need anything as a special order delivery is always fast. Pricing is also very competitive.”
Built by a highly skilled team of welders and engineers, NDF Disc Planters has a strong reputation for creating robust machinery that lasts.
Using robotic welding and laser cutting machines for cutting steel plate and RHS steel sections, NDF Disc Planters are looking at ways to streamline some areas of production.
“In the next 12 months, we will be incorporating more robots across various areas of production with a view to streamline welding of larger sections and repetitious high volume components,” Mr Foster.
With each disc planter manufactured on-site and sold directly to the customer, NDF Disc Planters are designed here in Australia for harsh soil conditions.
“We service direct from the factory to the end user, so there’s no middle man or dealership to complicate the service or spare parts process,” Mr Foster.
